# JobTrail

## What it is

JobTrail is a Chrome MV3 extension that runs entirely in the user's browser. It reads the LinkedIn job posting the user is viewing, scores how well it matches their resume using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model (on-device), and offers one-click save to a Google Sheet under the user's own account.

## How it differs

- **On-device by default** — scoring runs locally via Chrome's built-in AI. No cloud calls, no telemetry, no account required.
- **Optional cloud path** — users can plug in their own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key for more nuanced scoring. Their key, their bill, their data.
- **Privacy posture** — uses the `drive.file` OAuth scope, which means the extension can only ever access the single tracker spreadsheet it creates itself. Nothing else in the user's Drive is visible to it.
- **Free** — no premium tier, no upsell, no data collection.

## Pricing

Free. The default on-device scoring path is free forever. The optional cloud-LLM mode uses the user's own API key — the user pays their provider directly, not JobTrail.
