Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-10
1. Acceptance
By installing or using JobTrail, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the extension.
2. What JobTrail does
JobTrail reads the job posting you are actively viewing on a supported site, scores your resume against the description using either Chrome's on-device AI or an AI provider you supply an API key for, and optionally writes a row to a Google Sheet you own. JobTrail does not run a server.
3. Your responsibilities
- Your AI provider account. If you connect a third-party AI provider with your own API key, you are responsible for that account, its costs, its rate limits, and compliance with that provider's terms.
- Your Google account. If you connect Google to save jobs to a Sheet, you are responsible for the account, the spreadsheet, and compliance with Google's terms.
- Your resume content. You are responsible for what you put in the resume field. JobTrail sanitizes contact information from resumes before any cloud-AI request, but the rest of the text is sent verbatim.
- The accuracy of your decisions. ATS scoring is a heuristic. JobTrail does not guarantee that a high score means you will get an interview, or that a low score means you will not. Use it as a directional signal, not a ruling.
4. Permitted use
JobTrail is intended for personal use to help you track and evaluate jobs you are considering. You may not:
- Use JobTrail to access sites at scale, automate bulk extraction or submissions, or otherwise circumvent the terms of any site you visit (LinkedIn included).
- Repackage or redistribute the extension as your own product without permission.
- Use JobTrail to discriminate against any person or class of people in violation of applicable law.
5. No warranty
JobTrail is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Job sites change their HTML frequently and the page reader may break without notice. AI providers may return inaccurate or biased outputs. Google APIs may impose new restrictions. JobTrail makes no guarantee that any feature will work at any given time.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainer of JobTrail is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed job opportunities, or any other intangible loss, arising out of or in connection with your use of the extension. Your sole remedy if you are dissatisfied with JobTrail is to uninstall it.
7. Third-party services
JobTrail integrates with services operated by third parties (LinkedIn job postings, Google Sheets, AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini). JobTrail is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of these third parties. Their respective terms and privacy policies apply when you use them through JobTrail.
8. Changes
These Terms may be updated. The date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
9. Termination
You can stop using JobTrail at any time by uninstalling the extension. The maintainer can update, change, or discontinue the extension at any time, with or without notice.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction in the United States.
